Yoni Hamburger

About

Yoni Hamburger is a figurative painter based in Tel Aviv. He works in oil, acrylic, and drawing. His portraits combine classical techniques with psychological depth and a bold, expressive use of color. The work includes both observed portraits and what he calls “inner portraits”—intuitive images that emerge from memory, feeling, or imagination. Many of his figures appear suspended between presence and absence, realism and abstraction, reflecting an interest in the complexities of the human experience.

Originally from Israel, Hamburger spent a decade living and working in New York and Philadelphia, where he studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. In 2010, he completed a portrait of King George Tupou V of Tonga, painted from life. His work has been exhibited in the US and Israel.
